The dimensions in inches of a shipping box at We Ship 4 You can be expressed as width x, length x + 5, and height 3x – 1. The volume is about 7.6 ft3. Find the dimensions of the box in inches. Round to the nearest inch. (Hint: 1 ft3 = 1,728 in.3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume=length*width*height so (x+5)(x)(3x-1)=7.6

So how could I solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply it out solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused cuz my answer has to look like this 15 in. by 20 in. by 44 in 12 in. by 17 in. by 35 in 15 in. by 20 in. by 45 in 12 in. by 17 in. by 36 in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah once you have x you can figure all the other measurements out easily

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I can't just multiply here so is there a set equation I can use?
