a) x + y = -2
b) x + y = 3

you could isolate x in equation (a) then sub in the result in equation (b) but in this case that is overkill

the left hand side of both equations are equal so subbing (a) into (b) we get

-2 = 3

This answer is nonsense and the system has no solution.
