I need help writing a thesis statement. i have to write an exploratory essay in which you compare and contrast online learning with classroom (on-ground) learning.

A thesis statement is supposed to capture the main thought of the essay. So if your essay is about comparing and contrasting computers and iphones you would say something like "Although both computers and iphones are similar because they can do things such as surf the web, email, and play music, they are also very different because iphones are not as practical when doing things such as writing papers, or other jobs that require a bigger screen and more room to store data."

See what I did here is 1) I compared how they were the same 2) said why they were different 3) said my opinion without saying "i think" by explaining why one is better than the other (computers are simply more practical than iphones)

So what you need to do is 1) find how online and traditional school are similar (you still have teachers, tests, curriculum) 2) say how they are different (online school you make your own schedule, you do not physically see teachers and students etc.) 3) say why you think one is better than the other (online is more flexible or traditional school is more socially beneficial)
