I never read the book but I know it exposed all of the things that went wrong in the meat packing industry. I think rats got blended and workers went missing (read into that). One of the reasons USFDA got created (I believe) ie govt regulation to avoid getting a cleaner food supply. I believe now there is an actual definition of how much unknown can be packaged (Once again read into that).
Well now sure but that is what I think that is what Upton Sinclar's "The Jungle" is about..
