Canada and Mexico are similar to the United States because all three countries are described as direct democracies and oligarchies direct democracies and federations indirect democracies and oligarchies indirect democracies and federations
direct democracies and oligarchies
B.)direct democracies and federations
Geez. Indirect democracies and federations, all of them. In all three voters select legislatures who rule for them, which is indirect democracy. (Direct democracy would be voting directly on laws, e.g. how it works when you vote on an initiative.) Additionally, all three are federal systems where the individual states (or in Canada provinces) retain significant power.
which one is it
B) @sydnoelle
I took the test. The answer is NOT B. The answer IS D.
The United States is a representative, or indirect, democracy. Just like many other countries, voters elect leaders to make decisions. It is also called a "presidential republic" because a president is elected to serve as the chief executor of the laws. In some countries, the job of the president is broken into several official positions which must work together to make executive decisions.
