i need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2/5 -9/80 -3.5 i think a

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) Wite down \[y \ne 0\]2) Multiply everything by y. 3) Multiply everything by 7 4) Multiply everything by 3 5) Multiply everything by 2 There are other ways to proceed. This is just one with what I hope is an obviuos goal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets simplify the left side first factor in the 3 and get 3y+ 21 so you have (3y + 21 / 7y) -(4y -7/6) find common denominator so it will be like this [6(3y+21) - 7y(4y -7) ] / 7y simplifying [18y + 126 - 28y^2 + 49 ] / 7y [ -28y^2 + 18y + 175 ]/7y now lets simplify right side multiply in the 2 14y -2 / 21 find common denominator [21(7y+10) - 3y(14y - 2)] / 63y simplify [147y + 120 - 42y^2 + 6y] / 63y [-42y^2 + 153y + 120 ] / 63y now your equation looks like this: [-28y^2 + 18y + 175]/7y = [-42y^2 + 153y + 120]/63y cross multiply 63y[-28y^2 + 18y + 175] = 7y [-42y^2 + 153y + 120] cancel out 7y on both sides 9[-28y^2 + 18y + 175] = -42y^2 + 153y + 120 multiply in 9 -252y^2 + 162y + 1575 = -42y^2 + 153y + 120 simplify -210y^2 - 9y + 1455 = 0 factor using quadrictic formula should give you your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is -2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is correct my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i might of made a mistake in that math but the process of doing it is correct
