consider quadratic functions in the form f(x)=ax^2 + bx + c . Express the equation of the tangent line to the function f at the point (p,q) in terms of (i) a, b, p and q and (ii) a, b, c and p

hartnn (hartnn):

using calculus ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i tried that but i cant get the right answer

hartnn (hartnn):

what u got as slope of tangent ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhh one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2ap + b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as the slope

hartnn (hartnn):

yeah, thats slope at point (p,q) what u got final answer as with that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah no i see the error in my ways, thanks anyway mate. When i got to y=mx+c to generate the tangent equation i was still using x instead of substituting p as x again. Sorry about that i just realised after trying 3 times

hartnn (hartnn):

no problem...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just a silly mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the help anyway mate, sorry to waste your time. Have a good night :)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
