x^2-3x-10 ------------- x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that a division sign?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor out the numerator: (x-5)(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-5)(x+2) ---------- (x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do any of it, thats why im asking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea...do you how to factorize a polynomial? if yes, you can follow @tejasree steps..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cancel out the (x+2) the answer is x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets work with the numerator first. So you need to find to variables that add to -3 and multiply to -10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where x=-2 or; where x=5 , it says x=5 then a comma , that says x=-2 , or x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer would be x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

becasue x+2 would cancel out
