Help Please!! If Point M is congruent to Point N, the diameter of Point M = 148, and AB =140, what is the length of NQ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jennifer_arellano k first of all here 3 properties are used first congurency second a perpendicular to a chord bisects it and 3rd Pythagoras theorem :) can u do it now?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have tried it but the answer was wrong ;o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets talk about it what u do first???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a^2+b^2=c^2?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope first step is to find AM and AL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will give u hint Diameter of circle M=148 AM is the radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so does AM=70?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70 or 74???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because its half of 140?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u r finding AM diameter is 148 not 140 so 74:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol sorry! so than after that whats next

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about AL?????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

74?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y???????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its 70 kuz the hypotenuse is always bigger than the leg so 140/2 = 70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right now in triangle AML AM and Al are given use Pythagoras theorem:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right now it is given that 2 circles are congurent so NQ=LM=24 is ur answer:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okayy :) thanks for helping me, i appreciate it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no u solve it so all credit goes to u :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol but you helped me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i only guide u:)
