find the singularities and roots of the following: f(x)=x+1/x−1

Not sure what a singularity is... But it's pretty obvious when the numerator becomes 0, you will get a root, and when the denominator becomes 0, you'll get an asymptote... perhaps that is what they mean by singularity.
