correct, by it he means that when any object absorbs energy, at subatomic level -e gain energy and rise to a higher energy level than their own, so when these exited -e release this energy the energy is released in the form of light....!

color of an object is, as seen by us the color (with particular wavelength) refracted or/and reflected by the object while the colors of other wavelengths get absorbed..... while the brighteness of that color depends upon the Amplitude
