What are three problems that affect critical thinking, and how will you avoid them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By not asking questions, not trying to decide the difference between what is opinion or what are facts, and not making decisions based on fact one is not critically thinking. The way to avoid this is to be inquisitive, decipher what is factual above what is just an opinion, and to only make decisions that are based on facts and not just the feeling in the moment.

1. Fear of looking too smart or too stupid. 2. Fear of growing and changing (common). 3. Laziness -- and this, I believe, is examined in the previous answer by chelsea.dorsa 4. Everyone being so rushed that they have little time to hone their critical thinking skills through reading and reflection and analyzing. We are all rather busy seeking food and clothing and shelter and must "fit in" (in small spaces) the life of the mind. (A tragedy.) 5. The worst: living in a culture that doesn't particularly value the life of the mind or fears it. We are valuable if we follow the directions, especially the boss's directions. Period.
