What is the absolute maximum for the function f(x)=-6x^2+8x-5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would be the vertex... do you know how to locate the vertex of the parabola?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rewrite the equation so you can find the vertex

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can do that ^^^ as @gvt016 stated... but an easier way is to use the fact that \(\large x=\frac{-b}{2a} \) will give you the x-coordinated of the vertex....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is the shorter way, you must make a choice
