How the equation of a tangent line can be determined by making f (x) = 3X ^ 2 - 1 / x, P (1,2) ??? (thank you in advance)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take the derivative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what a derivative is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aha it gives the slope of the curve but about using it.... yeah ehmm :) So the slope of the tangent is equal to 3*x^(2-1) = 3x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this it: 3X ^ 2 - 1 / x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is :))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then the derivative would be 1/x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No tangent line exists at (1,2)
