The ratio of 16 − x2 and x2 + 2x − 24 is solved by... 16-x^2 ------------- x^2 + 2x − 24 You divide x^2 by x^2, and it is canceled out. Then you add 24 and 16 together, and you get 40, divide by 2, you get 20

Sorry, got the last part cut out. The ratio of 16 − x2 and x2 + 2x − 24 is solved by... 16-x^2 ------------- x^2 + 2x − 24 You divide x^2 by x^2, and it is canceled out. Then you add 24 and 16 together, and you get 40, divide by 2, you get 20, so the simplified ratio is x-20.
