what is the main function of glucose?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The main function of glucose in a organism is to provide immediate energy to the cell. Glucose is the main source of energy, and the cell converts this molecule to energy with its organelles, organs of the cell. The body can use fats and protein also, but certain tissue, such as nervous tissue, can only use glucose because the cell does not have to put as much work in to converting the fat and protein in to a form the cell can use.
