Steve has these scores on the exams for this semester: 89, 92, and 87. How much will he have to make on the fourth exam to have a final average of an A (a 92% or better)?
how do i solve this?
please hurry bi ponly have 5 minutes
You know that your three scores are 89, 92 and 87. You can call your final exam score "x" because you don't yet know what it is. To find average you have to take the sum of the numbers and divide that by the number of numbers. In this case we have 4 numbers: 89, 91, 87 and "x". This means that you must add these numbers together and divide by 4 since there are 4 numbers. This gives you the average given any exam grade "x". Since you would like to find the grade you must make to pass with an A, you have to set the previously stated expression equal to 92. If you do this and solve with some algebra, you'll find that the answer is 100. You will need a perfect score on the final to receive an A.
thank you so much!
