Gas molecules on compression become liquid because pressere is increased , then why liquid molecules do not become solid on compression or increasing pressure?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

They do (except water), because the solid occupies a smaller volume, but the required increase in pressure is such that it is extremely difficult to obtain the solidification. It is much easier to lower the temperature.

Can you give any example plz..?
