Andre made a wax model of a rolling pin of diameter 4 cm. The rolling pin was shaped like a right circular cylinder with a right circular cone at each end as shown below. What was the total surface area of the rolling pin? Using complete sentences, describe the steps you used to calculate the surface area.

Could you explain it to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nurali like the steps you took to get the answer?

OpenStudy (nurali):

so the diameter is 4 cm so the radius is 2 cm the total surface area is SA=2×π×2×13+2(π×2×7)=80π

OpenStudy (nurali):

May be correct.

OpenStudy (nurali):

its surface area of the open cylinder plus 2 x the surface are of the cones Open Cylinder SA=2×π×r×h r radius h = height Cone SA=π×r×s r = radius s = slant height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got radius = 2 height = 13 slant height = 7 is that wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? @Nurali

OpenStudy (nurali):

I try but no idea sorry.

Ok thank you anyways!
