The menstrual cycle is suppressed during pregnancy. Explain why this is important to the success of a full-term pregnancy.

I don't really think there's a purpose, but the only reason the menstrual cycle even occurs is because the unused, unfertilized egg has to be removed from the body in some way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

viabilty of the fertilised egg is maintained by progesterone....but this hormone in a negative feedback prevents ovulation...because no need for another ovum to be produced as aim for reproduction is already met with....
