In a thesis where you take a definitive side, consider this outline:

--> Introduction to the Death Penalty (DP); brief history/why there is controversy/events that triggered controversy and most importantly, you're opinion
--> Point 1: The reason you are (for arguments sake) against it, is on a moral basis - you don't advocate murder of any kind, and two wrongs do not make a right.
--> Point 2: A DP actually lets murderers and rapists "off the hook" as a life in prison is arguably worse than death.
--> Point 3: DPs were practiced as far back as [date of first DP] so legalizing a DP is a step backwards, rather than forwards.
--> Conclusion: Humans are always progressing, be it morally or civilly, and since a DP is a step backwards, then why have it? What happened to "the future?"
