A major theme in biology is the relationship between structure and function. Describe how the structures of chloroplasts and mitochondria are suited to their roles in photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

Mitochondria : Structures - smooth outer membrane, folded inner membrane called Cristae, circular DNA, fluid matrix and contains ribosomes. Function- Cellular respiration is the set of the chemical reactions and processes that take place in the Mitochondria of cells to convert to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into (ATP).The mitochondria is known as the power house of the cell and it is well suited for storing and making energy. Chloroplast : Structures- Are similar except it contains granum, folded inner membrane called lamellae and fluid stroma Function - the grana contains chlorophyll to absorb sunlight and may store store starch to produce energy , The inner membrane encloses a fluid-filled region called the stroma that contains enzymes for the light-independent reactions of photosynthesis
