What is the difrence between the gravity work and potentional energy . ?

Gravity is the force that pulls you to the centre of the Earth. Eg : If I drop a book from my hand, it is pulled towards the earth by FORCE OF GRAVITY. Potential Energy is due to its position or height .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The amount of Work you do against the gravity, to lift an object of mass m to a height h, is equal to the Potential Energy that the abject gain, W=P=mgh.
