Find the perimeter of the rectangle below. The width is 4x=2y and the length is 9x=8y.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The lengths of the sides should be expressions, not equations. Are you sure they are not 4x + 2y or 4x - 2y and 9x + 8y or 9x - 8y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I'm sure. This is a question on my take home algebra test. What I did was 2(9x+8y) + 2(4x+2y) = 18x+16y+8x+4y not sure if I did that correctly though.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes you did that correctly

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

this is only one way of expressing the perimeter of course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then I combined the like terms to get 26x+20y as my final answer.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright c: thank you all.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yw
