Consider that your instructor wants to demonstrate the lecture or lab task with the help of multimedia. Suddenly due to unknown reasons the projector stops displaying and you cannot get another projector during that session. and all that you could really hope for . . . as far  as I know is that every student  is at or has a computer and can follow along with the instructor if he/she shares the file with them.
