Construct a triangle ABC in which AB= 8cm , AC= 6cm and BC= 9cm. Construct the line through C perpendicular to CA and mark the point X where this meets the bisector of BAC. Measure the lengths CX and AX.

I have constructed the triangle and its bisector but I didn't understand constructing the line through C perpendicular to CA.

I am not really sure, I would suggest you wait for one of the math masters to how up but i believe its something like this :|dw:1353669239807:dw|

thank you very much. I got CX= 5.1 cm and AX= 8 cm same as the book

A question for you if you don't mind, how do you go about constructing the triangle by using the 3 sides? just wondering how other people do it :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK I will tell you later because I have to go and then I will come back like after 20-30 minutes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem :)

For example lets take the question I wrote above. 1- Draw an 8cm line which is AB 2- Using the compass extend it to more than half from A and from B and then draw the arcs. 3- The arcs which will intersect, name it C and then connect A and B with C.
