Jane has to create a 'birthday cylinder' for a project in math class. The instructions say to use the month as the radius and the day as the height. She was born on August 26. Which would give her a radius of 8 cm and a height of 26 cm. She has to calculate the circumference of the base, the area of the base, and the volume of the entire cylinder. She must use 3 for π.

Hi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i am doing it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks:)

I am still here, my icon just does not show up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Never mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

radius 8 height 26 --- circumference of the base = 2pir=2*3*8= the area of the base = pi r^2=3*8*8 the volume of the entire cylinder=pi*r^2*h=3*8*8*26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm. Okay, let me work them out. One second. And thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you nincom. Type a reply, will you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nincom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Nincompoop. lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mk...be right back, i am working the equations out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nincompoop? huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. Nincom, nincompoop. its a shorter version of the name.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am confused do you think i am him or did he help you first or what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I give you the credit. I just asked him to type a reply so I could give him a medal since he gave me one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I guess he doe not want one.... *shrugs*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, almost done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8*(2*3), 8*(3*8), 8*(3*8)*26; 48, 192, 4992

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, ok. Sorry for the wait.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first is the circumference, the second the area, then the entire volume?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes in that order

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, great. Thank you.
