OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Trig Identities help please! Simplify: (sin^2x + sinx + sinxcosx +cosx)/(sinx+cosx)

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

The answer should be sinx +1 ! I dont know how to get that :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try factoring the numerator

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Ok I'll try that

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

How do I factor that top?

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

OO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try getting a common factor. you may not be able to see it right away, so factor a couple terms at a time and you might see it

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Whoa I got it! Thanks! I did group factoring, so it became (sinx+cosx) (sinx+1)
