HELP ME(:????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a) Create and x-y table with 5 coordinate pairs from the line. b) Determine the equation of the line. Explain your reasoning.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

all points on this line have one thing in common: they all have the same y coordinate (which in this case is 5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zepdrix ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

can you name me a point that has a y coordinate of 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(0,5)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's one, what's another

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1,5),(2,5),(3,5)(4,5),(5,5)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

perfect, all points have a y coordinate of 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kay, what about B

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

since this is the case, the equation is just y = 5 because x has no part or role here (ie x doesn't change the outcome -- so don't bother writing it down)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sooo the equation would be?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

i just said it y = 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

y = 5 is the equation which plots the horizontal line through 5 on the y axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
