I did all the work for this i would jst really like someone to check this for me. Solve |2x + 8| = 6. Show its equivalent compound sentence and show its solution. This is what i wrote: 2x+8=6 2x+8-8=6-8 2x/2=-2/2 x=-1 2x+8=-6 2x/2=-14/2 x=-7 x=-1 or x=-7 did i do it right and did i put all i needed there?

looks god to me!

OpenStudy (lilai3):

the first one is correct the second is correct the third one is correct LOOKS TERRIFIC ;D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but isnt the equivalent compound sentence the same as the solution or is the work the eq.?

OpenStudy (lilai3):

what do you mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the question it says Show its equivalent compound sentence and show its solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the difference between the two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's how u check ur answer: plug ur answer into the original equation, see if it works.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i have to check it too is that what the solution is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in a way, you did write the equivalent COMPOUND sentence: 2x+8=6 OR 2x+8=-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the solution will be when i check it or what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the solution is what u did to get the answers. you've done that...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw... :)
