Which of the following functions shown in the table below could be an exponential function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. f(x) B. g(x) C. h(x) D. k(x) **choose ALL that apply!! and pls explain :) thanks!

OpenStudy (phi):

Exponential means you can find a common ratio between terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so f(x) is an answer right?? cuz its always +2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and g(x) doesn't have a common ratio...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and neither does h(x) or k(x) right?? so is my only answer here A. f(x) ??? @phi :)

OpenStudy (phi):

a ratio is the n+1 term divided by the nth term a common difference like +2 means a linear function: it goes up by 2 at each term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay then idk... :( can u pls show me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and we are looking for exponential function so f(x) is NOT an answer here then?

OpenStudy (phi):

g looks like a common ratio of 0.7 0.7^x h(x) looks like 1.6^(x+3) k(x) looks like a parabola (it goes down, then back up)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so my only answers are C. h(x) and D. k(x) ??? A and B don't work here?? C and D are my answers??

OpenStudy (phi):

I believe so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk thanks!! :)

OpenStudy (phi):

whoops, g and h not k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay haha so B. g(x) and C. h(x) are my answers? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi :)

OpenStudy (phi):

yes B and C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk thanks !!
