what is mutation, the different types and gives examples?
In simple terms mutation means mismatch of bases in Nucleic acids during their synthesis.on the basis of chargoffs rule in case of DNA" A" always pair with "T" and G always with C. ATCGTTAG TAGCAATC >>>> No mutation ACGTCGTT CGCATCAG >>>>> Mutation Examples of Mutations, Insertions,Deletions,Point mutations, frame shift mutations..etc.,
A mutation is a permanent change in the DNA sequence of a gene. Mutations in a gene's DNA sequence can alter the amino acid sequence of the protein encoded by the gene. For example, a butterfly may produce offspring with a new mutation. Many times new mutations are harmful; a new mutation might change the color of one of the butterfly's offspring, making it harder (or easier) for predators to see. If this color change is an advantage, the chances of this butterfly surviving and producing its own offspring are a little better, and over time the number of butterflies with this mutation may form a larger percentage of the population.
