It is determined by the number of sides. From geometry, a straight line is equal -- how many degrees? For example, a triangle is three sides and you know how much the angles total to.

I didn't do a good job of explaining that, there is a formula for finding total degree of angles an n-sided polygon, it is (n-2)*120

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

It's 180(n - 2), where n is number of sides. The number is 180 not 120.
