The gradient of the curve y= hx^2 + k/x at the point (1,8) is 1, find the valie of h and of k please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please someone explain to me how to do it :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

value*

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

curve passes through (1,8) -->gives you one eqn in h and k slope at (1,8) = 1 (given) so differentiate y w.r.t x , plug in x=1 and dy/dx = 1 to get 2nd eqn in h and k solve both simultaneously..

so the equation from the given points resulted to y= x + 7, right? Hmm sorry, but can you explain thoroughly what's next? Thanks!

hmm dude? ._.
