I need some help to understand how to answer this Graph y=-|x-3|-4 Then tell whether it opens up or down. How would i solve this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have a graphing calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it just asks to graph it. Im not to sure how to start it though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the graph will begin in the negatives because of|dw:1353863317211:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know it isnt the same problem but this will help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my pleasure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what about the negative at the beginning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its going to reflect on the x-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the negative in the beginning is within the absolute Laye bracket you'll only graph the positive side. To calculate this you could plug in number like -10 -5 0 5 and 10 as x and the output is your y.
