if value of the resistor connected with the gate of MOSFET is immaterial, why would it be connected?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no current flow from gate of MOSFET when it is complete charged. But during charging there is some current flow . although MOSFET is a capacitor. current in capacitor is \[i=C*d(v)/dt\] consider u have connected ur mosfet directly with power supply. If there is any fluctuation in supply voltage, it can result in large current flow through it gate oxide enough to damage its gate oxide. THIS RESISTOR CONNECTED COMES IN PICTURE IN THAT CASES ( IF IT CONNECTED IN SERIES FACTION WITH GATE). TO CONTROL THAT CURRENT VALUE
