I don't know what u mean by renaissance. I would say that they are around that time back then people just started turning away from religious ways to heal from illness that's when the plague came in and thats why doctors would were a gas mask and yeah that's when medicine came abt. so yeah I would say because of the plague and the religious aspect of some of them
