–2/5x – 9 < 9/10

OpenStudy (lacypennelll):

-2/5x-9<9/10 add 9 to both sides -2/5x<99/10 Divide both sides by -2/5 Two main things happen here. remember that dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying by its recip, and that when you multiply by a negative number, it reverses inequality signs So x>(99/10)*(-5/2) Or x> -495/20 or -99/5 unless im mistaken, x>-99/5

OpenStudy (lacypennelll):

i hope this helped

hero (hero):

I don't usually help with problems like these because it is easy to mis-interpret

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i never understood these questions lol and i will see if it is lacy thank u hun!

hero (hero):

I understand these. I'm a math major, but the way you post it can be interpreted in different ways.

hero (hero):

For example, the x could theoretically be interpreted as being in the denominator or the numerator.

hero (hero):

Also, someone else could interpret the fraction on the left to be \[-\frac{2}{5x - 9}\]

OpenStudy (lacypennelll):

I agree with hero* happy?

hero (hero):

I'm happy that you agree with me, but not really happy with the way you're expressing it
