oh waaittt maybe not it might just be essays cause of newspaper articles and research papers are based on facts so i dont htink you could just put an anaolgie of your own in there..

I think you would still be able to use an analogy in research though because an analogy is." a comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification."

So technically it could be used sparingly in research papers.
