HELP! a sugar solution was made by mixing 2 fl. oz. of 40% sugar solution and 4 fl. oz. of a 70% sugar solution. find the concentration of the new mixture. please/thanks

what you can do is find the oz of sugar in each mixture and add them together for example 40 percent of 2 oz will be .8 oz of sugar.. 70 percent of 4 oz will be 2.8 oz of sugar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add the sugars together .8 + 2.8 and then add the total mixtures together 2 + 4 then divide the sugar by the total mixture.

(.8 + 2.8)/ (2 + 4)

and you well get a decimal value. Just get the decimal value. Get the decimal to percent that will be it.

I'm sure there are other ways you can figure it out. But that's how I came up with it.

thank you!
