ratios of a 30 - 60 - 90 right triangle are \(1:\sqrt{3}:2\) for short leg : long leg: hypotenuse you have the short leg is 9 so the long leg is \(2\times9=18\)

the problem is the picture sucks. the 30 degree angle is half of the 60 degree angle so it should look like this |dw:1353962534362:dw|

whoever drew the picture did not know what they were doing you cannot make a 30 degree angle the same size as a 60 degree angle the 60 degree angle is twice as big
