The first term of an arithmetic sequence is -5, and the tenth term is 13. Find the common difference. Thanks in advance!

add 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i could've googled it if i wanted just the answer, could you explain please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you're trying to get to 13 within 10 numbers, you keep adding 2 so that the 10th number is 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like -5 + 2 is -3 and -3 + 2 is -1 and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

until you reach 13...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dow do you know it was 2? did you just guess? or is there a formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm I did guess and check. That works but on a state test you know you need 3 guesses. :T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.. oh. guessing takes ages. but yeah.. i dont have state tests... but thank you anyways. :)

no problem anytime :]
