A girl has six pairs of black socks and six pairs of white socks in her drawer. In complete darkness, and without looking, how many socks must she take from her drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match?

3

how ...actually there is no such pure maths in this problem and rather it's a more logical problem ....so @rinthehedgehog ...how did you get 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you need a pair a pair is 2 so in order to make sure you have a pair you need to pick out three socks since there are only 2 colors. three is the most logical answer.

umm..hmm...yeah ...quite clear yeah got it ....thank you very much!..@rinthehedgehog
