. Rosa, Roberto, Andrea, and Inno find an estimate for the square root of 10. Who has proposed the best solution? (1 point) Rosa: "Use square root of 9 and square root of 25 to estimate." Roberto: "I will use square root of 4 and square root of 9." Andrea: "It should be square root of 11 and square root of 12." Inno: "Use the square root of 9 and square root of 16 to find the estimate." can some one explain the correct answer step by step
can you help?
don't you think you should use the numbers closest to 10? you know (hopefully) the square roots of 4,9,16,25 they are 2, 3, 4, 5 you are trying to estimate the square root of 10. 10 is between 9 and 16, so you would guess (correctly) that its square root will be between sqrt(9) and sqrt(16)
Innno
but i got this questiion wrong in my teacher told me to give her an example how to do this problem step by step
what did you give as your original answer?
b
Did you have a reason, or just guess?
guessed lol
but can you help doing step by step?
There are not a lot of steps. It's more like thinking... you know the square roots of some numbers (except 10): 4 9 10? 16 25 2 3 ?? 4 5 you should see that the square root of 9 is going to be less than the square root of 10. And the square root of 16 is bigger than the square root of 10 So you would guess the square root of 10 is between 3 and 4. 3.5 maybe? But you could say, "10 is a lot closer to 9 than 16" so I bet the square root of 10 is closer to 3 than 4 9 is 1 down from 10, and 16 is 6 up from 10 you could say 10 is 1/7 of the distance between 9 and 16 so maybe the square root of 10 is 1/7 of the way between 3 and 4 that would be \( 3 \frac{1}{7} \) or about 3.14 if we use a calculator, we find sqrt(10) is about 3.16. pretty close
there?
your teacher probably doesn't want you to do all of that, but at least figure out that the square root of 10 is between 3 and 4
Did you follow any of that?
yes
