OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting two answers that aren't on there. 212 and 232

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

264

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you please explain how you got that?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

oh... well just find the area of all the surfaces on the house. and add them up.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

er.. i mean tent, not house.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but i got this: (40*2) + (32+2) + (20*2) + (24*2) = 232

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

for the second one, you mean 32 * 2 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes sorry i pressed the wrong button.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both sides of the roof would be 40 + 40 both sides of the tent would be 32 + 32 front and back would be 24 + 24 and both triangular parts would be 20 + 20 what am i doing wrong?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Here is what I did:\[(40 * 2) + (32 * 2) + (8*6) + (24 * 2) + (4*6) = 264\]

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

first one is roof, second one is the sides, third one is the bottom or floor, fourth is the front and back, and the last one is the triangular roof support things.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the triangle is 4*5 right?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

no, 4 * 6. the front of the tent is 6 feet long.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

wait a second.... it says you don't include the floor.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

That means it's 216.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG duhhhhh. wow. I feel so dumb. how did i not see that! And they mean dont count the part you would sleep on (like don't do 6*8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you so much!!!

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

oh.. i thought it was a circus tent or something.. (that has nothing to do with the answer though.) and you're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha i thought it would be a sleeping tent.. thanks!!!
