4x+18=2y find the intercept method to graph

OpenStudy (hba):

Do we have to solve for x or y ?

hartnn (hartnn):

@bhakti Hi, \(\huge \color{red}{\text{Welcome to Open Study}}\ddot\smile\) Can u plz post the entire question ? what needs to be done with 4x+18 = 2y ??

hartnn (hartnn):

To get x-intercept put y=0 in the equation to get y-intercept put x=0 in the equation

hartnn (hartnn):

so tell me what intercepts u get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get it see 0=4x+18 what do i do now

hartnn (hartnn):

right, now find x from that 0=4x+18 subtract 18 from both sides, what u get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4.5 in one side but what do i do on the other one

hartnn (hartnn):

thats correct, your x-intercept is (-4.5,0) now find y-intercept. 18=2y y=... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i graph it

hartnn (hartnn):

correct, so y-intercept is (0,9) now can u plot both the intercepts ? can u plot (-4.5,0) and (0,9) ?

hartnn (hartnn):

if you are able to plot both points, then just join them with straight line and you have graphed your equation....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, welcome ^_^
