What term is used to refer to how much of a substance is dissolved in a liquid? A. concentration B. dilution C. distribution D. solutions

OpenStudy (blues):

Which do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking c bt i jst wanted to make sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solutions....I think

OpenStudy (blues):

Distribution has a lot of physical meaning - in this context it would refer to the way molecules were distributed in the solution. Like imagine all the molecules on one side of the beaker, or on one side of a semi-permeable membrane inside the beaker. Whereas the term you are looking for is essentially an average of particule density through the entire solution...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then is it b???

OpenStudy (blues):

Dilution is a good guess - but essentially it refers to the average number of present water molecules. Whereas the term you're interested in refers to the number of present solute molecules...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i will be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

process of elimination. He guess c...you said no. I guessed d...you said no....i said b...you said no..it's gotta be a

OpenStudy (blues):

Correct, it is concentration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool

thx
