What are the similarities and differences in solving equations and inequalities?

I found the answer to the question already. Thank you. Inequalities will have a less than or more than sign and equations have an equal sign. Equations are always equal however inequalities may have one side greater than the other side. The answer that you get in an equation will be a discrete value. For example, 4x = 8 the answer for x is 2. With an inequality the answer would not be discrete but rather would be a range. For example, 4x>8 in this case the answer is any number that is greater than 2. It is more simple to check if the answer you get with an equation is correct. You simply would plug your answer back into the equation. So if I got 4x = 8 and the answer I got was 2, I can easily check my answer and see that 4 x 2 = 8. With some inequalities you may have different answers within a range. You may be x < 2.
