I think it's both. Mitosis and Meiosis are two different ways that our cells divide. The cells that make up our bodies divide using Mitosis. And after Mitosis, each of those cells has 46 chromosomes. Meiosis is how our sex cells divide. (Male sex cells are sperm, and female sex cells are eggs.) And after Meiosis, each sex cell has 23 chromosomes.
