Integration Prob. a)Let T(x,y) = 120+30x^2-18y be the temperature at a point (x,y) on a metal plate D in the shape of a triangle with vertices (0,0),(1,0),(1,1). Compute the average temperature T on the plate. b) Identify any points on the plate where the temperature is equal to the average temperature.

i got 56.5 for part a, which i believe is correct, but i don't really know how to answer part b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think for b, there does not exist any point on the plate define by D that has temperature thats the same as the average temperature, since T is continuous and if any single point has a nonzero value than the integral would be infinity......im not sure im in the right direction or if i am using the correct theories...

btw, D should be: |dw:1354092660539:dw|

o damn..... that's really...... not practical lol *goes to seek another method* thx for trying though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol it took a lot of my time mannnnnnnnnnnnnn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=p sorry, but i seriously doubt this is the only method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course it's not....anyway good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):
